News From Chile





Esteemed Brothers:

Our beloved brother ALBERTO HORTA SEPÚLVEDA, deacon of the 5th Independent Methodist Church (Maipu, Santiago in Chile), passed today into the presence of our Savior Christ Jesus, after he suffered a second stroke (this time, massive), Tuesday of this week.

We want to make contributor to all the Bible Methodist Mission, and the Pastors, Elders and Deacons of our sister churches of CIEF, that this Friday October 8th at 7 pmwill be realised a memorial service in the First Independent Methodist Church (Villasana c/Andes, Fifth Normal Barrio).

We entrust our good God and loved Heavenly Father (as to the Alberto brother it liked to name it in each of its orations) who its family at the moment receives the total consolation in Christ Jesus, especially his wife, the sister Gladys, our sister Yalinne, the Andres brother, and by the continuation of the work of the 5th Independent Methodist Church.

In Christ, " Joyful in the hope; suffered in the tribulation; constant in prayer" (Roman 12:12).

Dr. Luis Alberto Horta Sepulveda of Maipu (Santiago) Chile passed into the presence of His Savior and Lord Jesus Christ earlier today. Please be in prayer for the family and for the churches in Chile.

News From Chile

Dr. Luis Alberto Horta Sepulveda has suffered a massive stroke and is currently in a coma in a Santiago (Chile) Hospital. Please be in prayer for Alberto, his wife and children, and the extended family. Dr. Horta is a dear friend to all Christians in Chile and serves as a Deacon with the Independent Methodist Churches in Chile.

Fraternal greetings.

I inform you of our beloved sister's death it sister Digna Zambrano, mother of the family Aguilera of the fourth church, our sister died today. Tomorrow we will celebrate a service at noon with the service in the cemetery at 3 in the afternoon.

I take advantage of thanking your for your prayer for deacon Luis Alberto Horta Sepúlveda. Thanks to God his recovery is quick and is now at home.

Obituary of Rev. Guy E. Tilley, Jr.

Rev. Guy E. Tilley, Jr., 77, of Kingsport, passed away on Friday, July 2, 2010, at Holston Manor Nursing Home, Kingsport with his family by his side.

Guy and his wife Evelyn came to Kingsport to work with Bancroft Gospel Ministries as missionaries in the 1950's. They spent 53 years together serving the Lord with Guy continuing after Evelyn's passing. During these years, Guy served as a Bible teacher, Program Director and then later as Executive Director of Bancroft. He loved teaching Bible to the many students in Sullivan and Scott Counties, (with many over the years telling him what that meant to them throughout their lives) He pastored: Arcadia Union, Arcadia Presbyterian, Harmony Presbyterian, and Beidleman Presbyterian Churches. Until his illness, Guy did a daily devotional for Temple Baptist Church, WHCB and WMCH Radio Stations. He also was the producer and voice of "Bancroft Bible Camp Storytime" and was known as "Uncle Guy" to many people, young and old.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Evelyn; his parents, Guy E. Sr. and Ida Mae Rendo Tilley and a baby sister.

Survivors include his two daughters, Mae Lynn Workley and husband, James, Bethany Tilley and special friend Billy McCrary; sister, Cordelia Herbert and husband, Bill; two brothers, Gordon Tilley and wife, Peggy and Joe Tilley and wife, Nancy; many nieces and nephews along with his large extended family including the families of Bancroft and WHCB 91.5FM.

Guy has donated his body to the Quillen College of Medicine.

The family will receive friends from 6 - 7 pm on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Temple Baptist Church, 2200 Memorial Court, Kingsport. A memorial service will be held in the church at 7 pm with Rev. Keith Walsworth, Rev. Brian Shuler and Rev. Kenneth C. Hill, conducting the services. Visitation will continue after the service in the Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be given to Bancroft Gospel Ministries, Temple Baptist Church, WHCB 91.5FM or WMCH Radio Stations.

The family would like to extend their thanks to Holston Manor Nursing Home, Amedisys Hospice and to his church family at Temple Baptist.

Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport, is serving the Tilley family.

Death of Rev. Guy Tilley

Rev. Guy Tilley, the Vice-President of the parent corporation of WHCB 91.5FM passed into the presence of the Lord on July 2nd shortly after noon.

Guy Tilley was a missionary with Bancroft Gospel Ministry in Kingsport for five decades. He served as that mission's Executive Director for more than two of those decades. He also served as a mentor, leader, and friend to the staff and management of WHCB 91.5 FM.

A memorial service will be held for Rev. Guy Tilley on Tuesday July 6th at 7 pm at the Temple Baptist Church in Kingsport.

The death of Brother Felix Vargas

Dear Brothers in Christ:

This morning (June 8th) at 5 am our beloved Brother in Christ and Servant of God, Deacon Felix Hernán Vargas Herrera, has passed away. His body will lie in state at the Second Independent Methodist Church in Santiago, Chile. The Body of Christ is affected with the separation of our beloved Deacon. But we know that already he is resting with his Lord to whom served in this earth.
